M32 Scandinavian series first time organized in Scandinavia 2014 and now in 2015 first time visiting Helsinki. Other race locations are Oslo, Gothenburg, Copenhagen and Stockholm. Formula 18 catamarans Finnish Championships organized by Suomalainen Pursiseura (SPS). First race day Friday was rainy in the morning but late in the afternoon the sun was partly shining. Wind was decreasing, but the SPS race committee managed to organize three races in the varying wind. Saturday was a perfect race sailing day with good wind and just some random clouds. Espoon Pursiseura organized the Lightning Europeans and Finnish Nationals from 5th to 9th of August 2015 in Espoo. Results at EPS webpage. First day at the Finnish Championships with altogether 25 yachts competing at the Ytterskär race area. Quite perfect sailing conditions and one of the warmest days of summer. Results at HSK race pages.
Lohjan Purjehtijat organized a ranking race weekend at lake Lohjanjärvi for three laser classes (Standard, Radial, 4,7), Melges 24, Snipe and RS-X raceboard. On Sunday the wind was quite strong (around 10 m/s) and every now and then also the sun was shining. This was also the first ever Sailpix photo session on a lake. On the first day the wind in Hanko was too strong and gusty. On the second day the light and unstable wind allowed only one race, but on Thursday, the third day at the Audi Open Dragon Nordic Championships, the wind was near prefect. After totally five sailed races the Jouko Lindgren with his crew secured his championship. See full results at the HSF webpage.
Once again Hanko and HSF showed the best sides of summer and sailing for the more than 200 boats attending the biggest annual sailing regatta in Finland. Helsinki Regatta has already during 60 years been the top sailing event in Helsinki. It is nowadays organized by an association Helsinki Sail Racing Management (HSRM) which has the leading Helsinki based sailing clubs BS, HSK, HSS, HTPS, M, NJK and SPS as members.
