Viaporin Tuoppi is the biggest event for wooden boats in Europe. This year it was organized for the 33rd time. The sailing weather was light and partly cloudy. After most of the boats had arrived to the after sail party at the Suomenlinna island the worst thunderstorm of the whole summer struck the event, anyhow without causing any bigger damages. 80 photos and a short 2 minute video. Results, which are not the most important thing in this event, can be found HERE.
Photos from the Helsinki Regatta are from Saturday with strong wind and cloudy weather. Unfortunately there are not any photos from Sunday when the wind was still strong, but the sun was shining. Experimentally the Dragon class photos are in black&white. Dragon class Keelboat classes 5m, 5.5m, 6mR, 8mR H-Boat
The one and greatest Hanko Regatta was sailed on the second weekend of July in varying winds and some fog on Saturday morning. Almost 200 yachts in 17 different classes on 4 separate race areas during three days makes it a popular regatta for a hardcore sailor and for less serious holiday sailors as well. Sorry for not having any photos of the Moth class. I was just not on the right place on the right time. 25 photos from Saturday, race area C (5m, 606, Hai, Albin Express, Finn, Folkboat) 105...
Helsinki Regatta photos of keelboat classes from Saturday races in nice sunny weather and light to medium wind. If you wonder why there are not so many photos of the 6mR yachts, it is because I was asked to shoot some video of the 6mR class. Download keelboat results. First time in many years, own class championship weekend for the growing Finnish 5m fleet. Still some being renovated, but this class is absolutely growing in Finland. Light wind during the both races, but the approaching rain front gave a dramatic background for photography and some good wind for the sailors at the end.
The 30th Viaporin Tuoppi with many sail yachts outside of Helsinki in the biggest wooden yacht event in Nordic. The light wind and sunny weather guaranteed that people enjoyed both racing on the sea and after sail on land. Some extra after sail photos have been published in the Sailpix Facebook group For quicker searching of a specific photo, please, check the Sailpix Flickr album. 2003 - Ten years ago. Some photos from a Finnish Six Metre Association meeting with familiar faces and some from Musto Classic regatta, when the 6mR yacht Klara Stjärna was yellow (submarine)! Photos taken with my first digital camera with almost 1 megapixel resolution. View Slideshow
