Baltic Offshore Week 2017 is at the same time Finnish and Estonian offshore championships. The race base is at the beautiful island "Särkkä" in Helsinki. Suursaari Race is Finlands biggest offshore race and this was the 27th year that it was organized. The race course is interesting as the Suursaari island, which you sail around, before was a part of Finland but today belongs to Russia. The 52 photos are from the start on Friday evening, before the yachts disappeared in the horizon. Traditional windward leeward race organized by Helsingfors Segelklubb (HSK) sailed in light wind and clear sunshine. Winner of the bigger ORC A class was Tea Ekengren / Swan 45 "Blue Nights", followed by Vesa Särkikangas / Sinergia 40 "Adela" and Jani Lehti / Next 37 "Mercedes-AMG". Winner of the ORC B class was Joonas Sandholm / First 36.7 "Arwen". Also worth mentioning is the new yacht type Farr 52 "Audi e-tron" in Finland, making it's debut in Sailpix photos. ORC Club, IRC and Business LYS classes start photos in the traditional offshore race organized by Koivusaaren Pursiseura (KoPu). Good wind and sunny warm weather for the brave sailors heading to Tallinn, but one silly cloud above the start area disturbing the photographing.
The traditional windward leeward race for off shore sailors sponsored by sail maker “WB Sails”. It was really nice to see all the best Finnish off shore yachts with some guests from Estonia. Second day at the X-Yachts Finland Cup, which is traditionally sailed in Hanko and races organized by HSF. Event is a come-together regatta for all X-Yacht sailors and is friendly hosted by Robi Gripenberg from X-Yachts Finland. Pictures are from X-41, X-99 and Family class races. The traditional "WB Sails" race in the Finnish Offshore Ranking series with three races on windward/leeward race course. The Grand Prix Volkswagen X-35 Cup moved over for the weekend from Sweden to sunny Hanko, where the GP3 was sailed. At the same time the X-41 class had their own race. X-35 results and X-41 results. Open Slideshow
