NJK Match Race Center Cup 2014
Last of the season 2014 Center Cup at NJK Match Racing Center. Forecasted strong wind of 12-14 m/s in the darkening Tuesday night attracted five teams to race in really cold 10 deg Celsius temperature. The gusty wind set its challenges and the teams had to do their best to master the tricky conditions.

The soon 50 year old 505 class had their Nordic Championship in Helsinki organized by HSK. Photos are from Saturday, second day, first race. Clear sunny weather with 5-7 m/s wind from east following the sun. Final results.
Also met (once again) my photographing fellow Kari Wilén, who happens to be a sailor from the only Finnish team which ever won a World Championship medal in this class. This happened 1972 in Hanko, Finland.

The restoration of 6mR yacht Renata continues at Ekenäs Båtvarv. The hull has been measured with high precision and compared to the original drawings. Boat builder Peter Granström has now made the first parts of new wood from Touchwood BV in the Netherlands. These are the parts that form the lengthwise shape of the hull, so the precision and connection angles between the parts are critical for a successful renovation. Sailpix will be following the project. Earlier photos (part 1).
5m Class Championship 2014, HSS
First time in many years, own class championship weekend for the growing Finnish 5m fleet. Still some being renovated, but this class is absolutely growing in Finland. Light wind during the both races, but the approaching rain front gave a dramatic background for photography and some good wind for the sailors at the end.
Folkboat Finnish Championship 2014, HTPS
First day at the Nordic Folkboat Finnish Championship organized by HTPS. Perfect sailing weather in warm breeze from South-west at Kruunuvuorenselkä in Helsinki. Photos are from the first day of total three. Two boats from Naantali, with Herman Saari and Roni Saksi at helm, leading after the first day. Results.
Zoom8 Finnish Championship, NJK
First race on last day at the Zoom8 Finnish Championship was delayed until 13:00 in the afternoon because of lack of wind. Anyhow all 3 planned races were sailed during the day. Photos are from the first and second race and trying to cover all the brave junior sailors. Final results.
