After a 3 week windy period it was time again for Finland's greatest annual race sailing regatta in Hanko. Weak wind and clear sunny weather kept the sailors long days on the sea, so it was real aftersail party after all sailing days. Second year for the Krångel Star Challenge organized by Ekenäs Segelsällskap (ESS). 10 boats sailed 9 races in excellent conditions with light to medium breeze. The Classic winner (over all 6th place) was Anders Hedman & Kustaa Lahtinen with Old Gipsy (FIN 4378) an Old Greenwich built boat from 1961. The over all winner was Stefan […]
Second year for the Krångel Star Challenge organized by Ekenäs Segelsällskap (ESS). 10 boats sailed 9 races in excellent conditions with light to medium breeze. The Classic winner (over all 6th place) was Anders Hedman & Kustaa Lahtinen with Old Gipsy (FIN 4378) an Old Greenwich built boat from 1961. The over all winner was Stefan Winqvist and Olle Tötterman (FIN 8073, Courage). 4 Classic boats participated. Special thanks to Ken Thilman for the boat ride during photographing.

The final day at the Hanko Regatta was sunny and windy. Because of the hard wind 6mR and 8mR classes did not sail on race course D at all on Sunday, so final results are based on Friday races only for 6mR and 8mR. 5m class results are based on results from Friday and Saturday. All other classes were out enjoying the sunny but demanding sailing conditions. The Saturday morning was foggy so the race committee postponed the start. After noon AP flag came down and all boats headed to the race courses. The Saturday morning was foggy so the race committee postponed the start. After noon AP flag came down and all boats headed to the race courses. Quite soon the half of the boats returned as there was no wind or it was too foggy. Just F18 catamarans started and on another course also other smaller boats.
